Call for Subproject Videos (Website & Social Media): Guidelines & Deadlines

Our internal social media team is producing introduction videos for the website and social media across all subprojects. The technical handbook and checklist were distributed via email and can also be downloaded below.

Key Deadlines & Action Items:

  • ASAP: Provide your postal address for the teaser envelope (to be opened on camera) and confirm whether you would like a participant recruitment appeal included in your video or social media release.
  • October 15, 2026 (Strict Deadline): Submit your video material via WeTransfer (set to 3-day expiry, clearly labeled clips) to yasmin.molls379@gmail.com.
  • October 30, 2026: Final deadline for implementing editorial feedback and retakes.

Knowledge Pooling Tool & Digital Hub Documentation

The documentation for our knowledge pooling tool and digital infrastructure hub has been updated at docs.trr379.de. Usage is mandatory across all projects, particularly for uploading dataset information required for the DFG survey.

If anything in the manual is unclear, please send your feedback directly to tseyrek@ukaachen.de so we can continually adapt and improve the documentation.

Project Q04: Thesis Documentation & Registration

Members of project Q04 are requested to upload thesis topics to GitLab under: TRR379 / Area Q Projects / Q04 / theses_documentation. Please read the repository README.md for instructions on filling out and referencing the registration form.

EOC News: Mandatory Bias & Power Abuse Training

Results from our previous newsletter questionnaire clearly demonstrated how important these issues are to the members of our consortium. In direct response, the Equal Opportunity Committee announces upcoming mandatory training sessions on Unconscious Bias and Power Abuse Prevention.

Two separate versions will be provided: one tailored for PIs and one for early career researchers and staff. Please complete your registration within the next three weeks.

ERC Advanced Grant Awarded to Prof. Dr. Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg

Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg (Director of CIMH Mannheim) has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant of €2.5 million for his 5-year project HOTHEAD. The study investigates the neurobiological circuits connecting high temperatures and aggressive behavior, utilizing high-field fMRI, mobile health tracking, and artificial intelligence to inform heat-resilient urban planning.

ISRA Kirsti Lagerspetz Award for Chiara Gramegna

Chiara Gramegna (Uniklinik RWTH Aachen) was awarded the Kirsti Lagerspetz Award at the 26th World Meeting of the International Society for Research on Aggression (ISRA) in St. Catharines, Canada, on July 21st, 2026. Her awarded presentation was titled: "How Context and Alcohol Risk Shape Sex Differences in Aggression". Congratulations on this outstanding international recognition!

Fast Forward Science 2026: "Angry Brains" Named Finalist

The science communication video "Digitale Gewalt" by the Angry Brains team (Yasmin Molls and Oliver Günther) has been selected as a finalist in the Young Scientist Award Short category at Fast Forward Science 2026 out of nearly 200 submissions. The project has also been shortlisted for Best Debut Video. The final award placings will be announced in Berlin on October 17th, 2026.
